This minimalist and captivating photograph is distinguished by its bold simplicity and powerful visual impact. Made in black and white, and in film, it exploits the art of contrast in an exceptional way. The black lines, rigid and incisive, almost calligraphic, contrast with the immaculate white background, giving remarkable sharpness and definition to the entire composition. The striking contrast between shadow and light highlights the contours of the face and arm, and underlines the gaze, the focal point of the whole. The artist's technique, making each white space an integral part of the composition, gives the work an almost ethereal dimension, and evokes a feeling of evanescence and movement, as if the subject were fading before our eyes. This mastery of emptiness, combined with an economy of means, demonstrates a deep understanding of expression through the essential. The minimalist technique, very mastered, oscillating between abstraction and realism, gives this work a striking depth. The subject's gaze, which emerges half-hidden, irresistibly draws the observer into an intimate and immediate connection. This hypnotizing effect is accentuated by the abstraction of the forms, and the opposition of dark and very light areas, which only partially reveal the image, leaving the imagination and sensitivity of each to complete the missing parts. This work, which combines simplicity and complexity, invites us to scrutinize beyond the composition, and to consider what is both visible and invisible, suggested and concrete. It is an eloquent demonstration that less can be infinitely more, and that the subtlety of artistic expression can emerge brilliantly in an apparent simplicity. It is a true visual and emotional feat that captures the very essence of minimalist art, and its power of suggestion.

Black & White Film Photographer
Artistic journey - Article published in "Univers des Arts"
It was at the age of 20 that Dominique-André Woisard discovered photography.
In 1983, he became assistant to Lucien Clergue, and produced the prints for the retrospective exhibition of his 30 years of photographs, at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris (1984).
Clergue will say of him: "... I was very satisfied with his collaboration, and I was also able to appreciate his human qualities, his punctuality, his discipline in the work, and his enthusiasm ..."
From this experience of the darkroom DAWoisard, still retains today, the pleasure of obtaining the quintessence of his images which he still prints.
In 1984, he presented his black and white work to Helmut Newton, his reference photographer, who: "… really likes what he does ..", and on his advice, moved to Paris the following year, where he works for the big modeling agencies (Glamor, Karin's, Elite).
It was in Bastia in 1994 that he exhibited his photographs for the first time. A strong symbol for this Corsican origin. Then he continued with his first Salon des Artistes Français where he won several medals including the Medal of Honor in 2005.
Her 3 favorite themes are the portrait, the landscape (especially Corsica, land of her ancestors), and of course the Woman in her most absolute femininity.
Jeanloup Sieff, discovering the photographs of DAWoisard, had he not found the right definition of his style by qualifying it as “retro-contemporary"? ... Neologism that the artist still claims today.
